Inspiration Shock

Inspiration Shock is a half-day seminar for everyone interested in entrepreneurship and business. Its purpose is to provide the participants with inspiring examples of different business ideas. The seminar is open to everyone, bilingual (Finnish and Swedish), and it includes an expert presentation of innovativity, creativity and ideation as well as actual business examples. The seminars are held annually. The Inspiration Shock for the academic year 2009–2010 will be held on 2nd March, 2010.

BUSINESS IDEAS

Creative Workshops

Creative Workshop is an interactive and instructed workshop for the support of creative business ideas. The workshop takes place in the Creative Lab of Western Finland Design Centre Muova. Different creative methods and their needs-based application relating to the actual personal idea of the student are introduced in the workshop.

Speed Dating

Speed Dating is the testing service for more advanced business ideas. The goal is to give the student valuable feedback on the selling and presentation of the idea. In the workshop, the student acts as the seller and different experts as buyers. The students circle from one work station to the next in to an exact schedule and present their plan and receive feedback.

DEVELOPING BUSINESS 

Coaching service (preincubator and incubator)

The coaching service is directed at students in higher education in the Vaasa area to help them to develop potential business ideas.

The service includes:

• determining the need for development
• drafting a strategy with the student to develop a business plan
• Business Road product range for developing a business idea
• mediating any external expert advice
• documenting a business plan

As needs related to developing business ideas often vary, the idea of the coaching service is to offer customised expert services (either provided by Business Road or acquired from external experts) to cater for different situations. These can be, for example, working on market research, a marketing plan or advertising campaign or adjusting a financing plan.

The coaching service provides

1. the student with his/her own workstation at the Business Road office. This type of coaching service includes access to the office and office equipment for a fixed period of time (max. 6 months at a time).

or

2. the student with face-to-face tutoring regardless of location. This means that the tutoring can take place in any agreed location but also in the Business Road office. This type of coaching offers students 10–15 hours of face-to-face tutoring, the rest is independent work on the business plan done by the student.

Business Road supports personal aspirations to become an entrepreneur, business ideation and finally, the successful launch of business. Successful Business Road offers excellent readiness for business life.
